I wanted to share a quick visual effects tutorial on using Optical Flares from Video Copilot within Nuke, taking advantage of the 3D information. I used a camera track I pulled out of 3DS Max and brought in as an Alembic or FBX and used the 3D camera and 3D lights to then generate augmented lighting.
This is just a simple but nice tough to create flares around all of the lights in the shot, very easily that will enhance the shot and make it feel richer.
I am sure there’s other tutorials out there on this, although at the time when I looked I couldn’t find any, so I thought I would share this approach. Enjoy.
